Come and see H2Rover at our booth on Saturday, February 22nd from 9am to noon.

In its entire history, the San Diego Botanic Garden in Encinitas had never -- NO NEVER -- EVER -- allowed a dog into the garden.

Then came that fateful morning. On Saturday, February 23, 2013, as the sun began to appear, so did the dogs and their families. And they just kept coming and coming and coming! Almost 400 of them!

The first ever "5K Paw Walk in the Garden" was such a huge success that your Rancho Coastal Humane Society and the San Diego Botanic Garden will join paws once again on Saturday morning, February 22, 2014 for the second annual 5K Paw Walk in the Garden.

Your Rancho Coastal Humane Society and the San Diego Botanic Garden are inviting you -- with our without your pooch -- to be there when dogs are allowed to walk through the Garden for only the second time in history.

Proceeds from the event benefit your Rancho Coastal Humane Society and the San Diego Botanic Garden.

Sam Beukema, Education and Events Manager for the Garden, points out that it's not just about the plants. It's about people, too. "Our mission is to inspire people of all ages to connect with plants and nature. We hope that allowing families to walk their dogs through the Garden for the 5K will remind them what a valuable resource they have and also encourage them to bring friends who have never visited the Garden before."

"Last year the 5K Paw Walk in the Garden went great," says RCHS Community Liaison Nick Winfrey. "This year it will be even better. We're expecting RCHS supporters, SDBG supporters, and people who have never been involved with either organization. There will be dog products, treats for people and dogs, great information for dog lovers, and (of course) dogs!"

Thanks so much to everyone who stopped by our booth at Cardiff Dog Days of Summer. The event was a great success for us. We met tons of dogs and tried the H2Rover bottle out on them, and got lots of great feedback from owners. We sold a good number of bottles, and we hope everyone who bought one is happy with what we've created.

After meeting a hundred or more dogs, we have discovered the top breeds that take immediately to H2Rover are:

Shepherds (Australian and German)
Pit Bulls and Pit mixes
Boxers and Bulldogs
Great Danes
.. and smart "mutts" of all kinds

Lots of little parts and pieces make up our bottles. And in small quantities, most of them are not cheap. Just an example, our custom machined stainless bottle fittings alone cost us nearly 5 bucks each.

However, it's important for us to build you a high quality product. That means using the best parts and materials we can find, like these solid stainless steel fittings, as well as stainless steel nuts and a stainless bottle.

We actually tested aluminum parts first, and we found that they started to corrode alarmingly fast in our marine environment. We know our neighbors here on the coast will be taking their pups to the beach, and we're confident the H2Rover bottle is up to the task.

We hope that for our customers, the quality parts and the care we take in building each bottle justifies the price.

The parts and pieces are finally in. We have stainless bottles silkscreened with the H2Rover logo, custom machined stainless fittings, yards and yards of tubing, and piles of nuts, washers, o-rings and taps.

It's finally time to put it all together. For each bottle, Pete hand drills the tap hole, installs the stainless fitting, rinses and leak checks each one. Then he adds the clip, hose and spigot. Back in the box, and it's ready to ship.

Ready, that is, except for the darn carry strap. We're still waiting for those from our supplier, but they've promised we'll get them by Friday. Just barely in time for our official launch on Saturday.
